Robbie Hale

Lead and Background Vocals
Robbie started singing when he was five, doing so every chance he could. In his teens, he joined some garage bands for fun. In his 20's he began taking it seriously and singing with several different groups off and on. Secrestat was the most promising of these. They competed online in 1999 on Audiorealm with about 270 other bands and were #1 for 7 weeks in a row.

Then as is so often the case, the rifts began, and the band soon broke up. After this he began singing in cover bands and enjoyed it. He enjoyed the diversity of music these types of bands allowed. He has been in several of these off and on including Faded Blue and Midnight Oil.

He joined Six Of The Matter in 2005 and enjoys their diverse love of music and limitless talent. He considers himself lucky to be a part of such a talented group of people. His vocal influences include Queensryche and Dream Theater. His musical influences are too many to name here.

Greg Rodenroth

Greg started off many years ago as an air guitarist who desperately wanted to play an instrument. In fact, the first band he was in he was just a songwriter and played nothing at rehearsals. Soon he learned to play guitar and when an opening came up in the band on bass, he lobbied for it and got it.

From there he went on to play bass briefly in the band China Blue and then for several years in SammIam. He retired in 2000, only to be beckoned back to playing by his wife. She needed a free band for her high school reunion. He enlisted the help of various family members and started up the band One Night Only which went on to become Six of the Matter.

He enjoys writing and recording songs and has an original project with his brother Dean called The Rodies. They hope to release their compilation of songs at some point in the not too distant future.

There's photographic evidence that Mike quickly rose to drumming stardom at 2 years old with his original interpretation of Jingle Bells on his Dad's drum set. Unfortunately, the stress of having to live up to the expectations of his break out hit cause him to leave the drumming world while he search for musical direction through the piano, guitar and bass.

It wasn't until ten long years after the success of Jingle Bells that his best friend and bass player introduced him to the drumming & syncopative wonder that is Neil Peart and Rush on the Moving Pictures album (Yes 'album'. Google it if you don't remember) that was released a year earlier. Rush and Neil's drumming inspired Mike to come out of his early retirement and beat the living hell out of the living room sofa learning every Rush song he could learn.

A year later, Mike saved enough money to purchase his first drum set (a sparkly blue CB700 5 piece) and promptly started playing in garage bands while still devoting every other waking moment to learning and playing old and newly released Rush albums. As in the evolution of most musicians, garage bands led to playing in cover bands at local clubs and bars and then to original bands; the most notable, Goldfish, in where he moved from drums to playing rhythm guitar & keys.

After the last original band broke up, Mike took another several year break to collect his musical thoughts by mountain biking through the North Texas back country. Eventually, the itch to play drums again resurfaced and Mike responded to an ad on Craigslist from an established variety band looking for a drummer in the summer of '09. The rest, as they say, is history.

Mike continues to perform with Six of the Matter till this day (when he is still not practicing Rush songs) as the diverse genres of music and the immense talent of his fellow band mates always makes performing with them exciting, interesting, and fun.
